Okay, NOW I'm excited. Mindgames has made the semifinalist cut in the FilmMakers screenplay competition. That's the top 50 out of 1300 scripts.
More importantly, that means that my script is among the 50 to be read "for consideration for representation and production." This is exactly what I was aiming for, in entering contests. Of course, I already kinda got what I wanted, when the Screenwriters Agency expressed interest in it, so, um, gilding the lily? an embarrassment of riches?
None of which is to say that I expect it to win one of the top slots (there are some cash prizes, not huge) or, for that matter, actually secure representation or somesuch, after the lukewarm critique it got. But who knows? Maybe Ms. Lukewarm's opinion is more of an outlier. Really, I'm just proud it got this far.
Anyway. Yay!
Oh, and I JUST finished the central scene of Never After, the one around which the whole movie formed for me, where Les kisses Somnia. Oh it's good. You so want to see this scene, really you do. :) Now, on to their love song, and the last quarter of the script.
And did I mention I've got an arranger for the music now? I do. Nothing can stop me! Nothing! Hollywood shall be mine!!
Ahem. Semifinalist. Ya.
